Jury sees in favour of E. Jean Carroll
This was a defamation case not criminal
Trump appeals against the verdict
Trump was found liable for sexually assaulting then journalist E. Jean Carroll in the New York department store Bergdof Goodman changing room thirty years ago in 1992.
It only finds him liable in a lawsuit, which has a lower threshold than proving a person in this case Trump guilty in a criminal case, because, and rightly so, which the latter means having it recorded on a criminal record for the rest of one's life and the possibility of being imprisoned for a period of time.
What is concerning about this case and others that have come to light, is that the statute of limitations has passed, and it is more of a case of getting a monetary reward of $5m (£4m).
The jury in this particular lawsuit claim did not find Donald Trump liable of the more serious claim of rape, which showed at least that there was an aspect of this lawsuit that E. Jean Carroll had some culpability in the fact she took Trump's offer of him buying a dress for her, which led to them engaging in a sexual act in the changing room.

Trump has insisted that he shouldn't be liable as he disputes E. Jean Carroll's claim that this encounter ever happened.
Another part of E. Jean Carroll's lawsuit was defamation by Trump stating a few times publicly that he “never met her” and that she “wasn't his type”, and furthermore, “made up this story [of allegations of rape] to sell copies of her book”.
Donald Trump has appealed and is still maintaining his fightback against the 'Deep State' and is running for the Republican presidential election next year, against staunch and bitter rival the sitting U.S. President Joe Biden.
