Putin distances himself from his own viewpoint to 'denazify' Ukraine
Putin's illegal invasion of Ukraine could last years
While Putin's army has been defeated in northern Ukraine, and the focus is on the eastern and southern part of Ukraine.
But Putin is making it clear that this is not a war, due to worldwide condemnation, but freeing the Russian speaking part of the eastern Donbass and southern stretch of Ukraine and incorporating territory already seized, Crimea.
However, while the battle is raging on in the east and south of Ukraine, Putin is making it clear to President Zelenskyy that if the Ukrainians are not going to surrender Ukraine territory, then the missile attacks on Kyiv will continue.
Putin needs to win something and is already informing the Russian people that it is in the best interest to take as much of the eastern and southern part of Ukraine to prevent Ukraine becoming aligned to the EU and especially NATO.
The argument or rather excuse to 'denazify' Ukraine is unfounded and even Putin is distancing himself from his own ideological viewpoint.

Do not think Putin is going to stop with Ukraine, it will not lose him support amongst the misinformed and loyal supporters of his United Russia political party.
Expect a long-drawn-out conflict and more missiles being launched targeting Kyiv and other cities especially in the key north of Ukraine, that are designed to push President Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian people into surrendering to Putin to end this illegal war against an independent non-threatening sovereign country of Ukraine.
